Design Show

So, The students from The Design Cluster courses at The University of Salford have now done their show, It is up in The Centenary building off Peru Street in Salford until Friday. The show is OK, but what is great is their project 'DesignIS'.

DesignIS is a project in order to promote themselves beyond the usual degree show. They have created a printed book and website branded as 'DesignIS no coincidence' and launced this at a party in Islington Mill, Salford. They not only created the outputs as a group but they also raised the funds nessesary for the project through sponsorship.

Clamps!

ATTENTION: There is a worldwide shortage of Clamps.

I have been helping some design students set up their end of year show. They are displaying work on big white boards that are attached together concertina style with clamps. Now, there has been a bit of a situation going on with clamps in the university, which has meant that the guy responsible for the show has hidden himself away and will possibly have developed a twitch every time someone mentions the word ‘clamp’

There are not enough clamps for everyone and apparently the reason is that Germany has ran out… GERMANY has RAN OUT of clamps. And the UK’s only supply of clamps comes from Germany. Crazy.

If you're not going to say something nice, dont say anything at all

Bit of a self-righteous rant here, I have to get something off my chest.
I have massively strong opinions… but I know when to keep a lid on them and back off. I learnt this through witnessing other people getting on their snotty high horse about something (that usually doesn’t even matter in the grand scheme of things) and looking like massive cocks (often in a really selfish bratty way).

Its great they have opinions, most people don’t, and that’s a whole other matter. The problem I have is that these people don’t seem to question themselves at all. Sometimes an opinion really is just an opinion after all. Who do they think they are?
